Biography

Julia Devanthery is a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Housing Justice Survivors Project at the Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School. Since joining the Legal Services Center in 2013, she co-teaches the Housing Clinic and has been instrumental in training clinical law students to represent tenants facing housing instability, particularly those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Julia's leadership in the Housing Justice Survivors Project allows students to provide direct client representation, develop impact litigation strategies, and engage in community training. Under her guidance, her students achieved significant victories, including a jury trial that secured $110,000 for a domestic violence survivor. Before her current role, Julia served as a Dignity Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Southern California, where she protected the civil rights of people experiencing homelessness and challenged policies that criminalized them. Julia holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and a bachelor's degree from Brown University. She is actively involved in various board memberships and has received multiple awards for her contributions to public interest law.
