Biography

Julia Hauer studied medicine at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where she defended her MD thesis summa cum laude with a focus on immunology. Her postdoctoral research involved gene therapy at Hôpital Necker in Paris. After completing her clinical training and subspecialising as a pediatric hemato-oncologist at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf, she joined the Technical University of Munich as an associate professor and head of pediatric hematology-oncology. Previously, she was a group leader at NCT Dresden. Julia Hauer's research centers on the genetic predisposition in the development of childhood cancers, particularly acute leukemia. She also explores the influence of environmental exposure on the immune system of children and aims to develop preventive measures for those at risk of cancer. Additionally, her work focuses on designing novel therapeutic options for clinical treatment.
