Biography

Julia Lynne Higle is an Emeritus Professor in the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. She received her Bachelor's degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and has a Doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering from the same institution. Her professional experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor at the University of Arizona from 1985 to 2006, and subsequently holding the position of Professor and Chair of Integrated Systems Engineering at Ohio State University from 2006 to 2012. Higle has been active in the academic community, serving as the Senior Vice President of Academics for the Institute of Industrial Engineers since 2009, and has held various leadership roles, including vice-chair of the INFORMS Section on Optimization and Program Chair for the 10th International Conference on Stochastic Programming. Her research interests include the development of models and solution methods for decision-making under uncertainty, stochastic programming, and health-care applications, with a particular focus on developing cancer screening strategies.
