Biography

Julia Jellusova's research focuses on the interplay between cell metabolism and signal transduction in B lymphocytes. Her work investigates how the uptake and utilization of nutrients are dynamically regulated within lymphocytes, with implications for cell fate and function. Jellusova aims to identify metabolic vulnerabilities in malignant hyperactive B cells to support the development of new therapeutic approaches for autoimmune diseases and B cell-derived malignancies. She earned her PhD in biology from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen in Germany, and later conducted postdoctoral research at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, California. In 2015, she joined Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg as a junior group leader, where she worked on her habilitation, supported by the Margarete von Wrangell fellowship. In 2021, she was appointed to her current professorship in Immune Signaling at the Technical University of Munich.
