Professor Dr. Julia Konstantinovsky

Biography

Julia Konstantinovsky is an Associate Faculty Member at the University of Oxford, where she has been involved in various academic roles within the Faculty of Theology and Religion. Educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and Oriel College, Oxford, she has held notable positions including Research Fellow at Wolfson College from 2007 to 2009 and British Academy Research Fellow at Christ Church since 2009. She also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Warwick during 2008-2009. In her teaching, she covers topics related to Early Christianity, the History of Early Church Institutions, Development Doctrine, Byzantine Church History, and Western Mysticism, catering to both undergraduate and graduate courses. Her research interests focus on Late Antiquity and Byzantium, exploring themes such as Byzantine monasticism and religious identities in the Eastern Mediterranean. Currently, she is working on projects addressing shifting religious identities in the seventh-century Eastern Mediterranean and evaluating Gnostic texts by Evagrius Ponticus, alongside interests in historiography and Russian religious thought.
