Biography

Julia Maibach is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Physics at Chalmers University. She joined in October 2022 after previously working at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany and at Uppsala University. Julia holds a PhD in Materials Science from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. Her research is focused on interface phenomena in contact between electrode and electrolyte in energy storage systems, including lithium and post-lithium-ion batteries. She aims to use operando photoelectron spectroscopy to develop a deeper understanding of the critical reactions occurring at these interfaces under actual battery operating conditions. Her goal is to establish the interfacial structure/property relationships that will lead to improved materials for interface design, enhancing the performance and longevity of energy storage systems.
