Biography

Julia Mizutani is a Law Research, Instruction, and Liaison Librarian and Adjunct Professor at Cornell Law School. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2019. Prior to joining Cornell, Julia practiced as a civil rights attorney at the ACLU in Seattle, focusing on impact litigation that pursued economic justice within housing and juvenile legal systems. Her work involved challenging the criminalization of homelessness and poverty-related legislation, as well as drafting amicus briefs for cases heard by the Washington Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit. In addition, Julia reviewed legislative bills related to civil rights and advocated for new court rule proposals that advanced racial equity. At Cornell, she supports the Law Library’s research and reference services, teaches legal research to JD students, and contributes to law faculty liaison services. Julia is also involved in law materials selection and outreach instruction services at the Law Library.
