Biography

Julia Montgomery is a full professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. She serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. After graduating from the School of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany, in 2003, she completed a one-year clinical internship at Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. Subsequently, she moved to the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, P.E.I., where she completed a three-year residency in large animal internal medicine and earned her PhD from the Atlantic Veterinary College. Dr. Montgomery has worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the WCVM's Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences for two years before joining the college's faculty clinical team in 2013. Her teaching focuses on large animal internal medicine and veterinary anatomy, with a special clinical interest in respiratory, gastrointestinal, and metabolic diseases in horses, as well as equine nutrition.
