Biography

Julia Poepping is the Director of Partnership Development at the Information Systems Program, a joint program of the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. She is responsible for developing and managing community partnerships and has been instrumental in teaching courses such as 67-373: Information Systems Consulting Project and 67-206: Technology Engagement Pittsburgh Community. Julia has a strong focus on community-based work and engaged initiatives that prepare students to share their passion for technology with the children of Pittsburgh. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh – Katz Graduate School of Business and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to her tenure at Carnegie Mellon, Julia held various roles at PPG Industries and Axiall, focusing on information security strategy within large manufacturing supply chains. She is also the founder of RedChairPgh, a nonprofit aimed at supporting mid-career women in technology, and has served on various volunteer boards.
