Biography

Julia Corwin Schechter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. She obtained her Ph.D. from Emory University in 2015. Her research focuses on Autism Spectrum Disorder, specifically stratifying heterogeneity in individuals with this disorder and the impact of co-occurring anxiety and ADHD. She has received several grants for her work, including funding from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for a project on ADHD in girls and women from 2021 to 2026. Her research also explores maternal obesity and its effects on child executive functions and weight gain, supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health. In addition to her research, she has contributed to departmental clinical services, previously serving as an Assistant Professor. Schechter is actively involved in initiatives to assist neurodiverse students and promote mental health in educational settings.
