Biography

Julia Sturm is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in historical linguistics. Her research primarily focuses on the complexities of ancient classical Indo-European languages and literatures, particularly Greek language and early Greek epic. With a strong foundation in formal linguistics and philological methodologies, she tackles fundamental questions about the evolution of Indo-European languages, investigating the prehistory and earliest attestations of these languages as well as their classical literatures. Dr. Sturm's current project, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie initiative, is titled IE CLIMATE, which explores climate and weather vocabulary in Indo-European languages to uncover insights into the environmental conditions experienced by Proto-Indo-European speaking peoples. Additionally, Dr. Sturm delves into topics such as ancient Greek verbal morphology and phonology, including sound change, and the verbal morphology of Vedic Sanskrit. She earned her PhD from Harvard University, completing a dissertation on the analogy remodeling of Greek verbs in the context of Attic Greek.
