Biography

Julian Filoteo received his Ph.D. from the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology in 1994. He completed a Psychology Internship at UCSD in the same year and took on the role of Assistant Professor in Psychology and Neurology at the University of Utah. Returning to San Diego in 1999, he joined the Psychiatry Faculty at UCSD, where he serves as the Professor of Psychiatry and Director of UCSD’s Neuropsychological Associates, as well as a Staff Psychologist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. His research primarily focuses on clinical neuropsychological assessment related to brain and psychiatric disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia. He has published over 70 research articles and book chapters and served on the editorial board and as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple neuropsychological journals. Filoteo has also received the Early Career Award from the National Academy of Neuropsychology. Additionally, his clinical focus encompasses the assessment of neuropsychological deficits in various psychiatric and neurologic conditions, where he also trains psychology interns and doctoral students.
