Dr. Julian Jones

Biography

Julian Jones is a Lecturer at the University of Manchester, specializing in Accounting and Finance. He holds a BA, MSc, and Ph.D. in Financial Strategy, with a notable career that includes advisory roles to Chief Financial Officers in large corporations, focusing on challenges such as cost discipline, mergers and acquisitions, finance transformation, and strategic planning. Julian’s research concentrates on the evolving role of business partners in creating value, particularly within the context of management accounting. He has been involved in CIMA-commissioned research initiatives that explore innovative approaches like 'Maieutic thinking' in the domain of finance and value creation. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has contributed to the enhancement of teaching methodologies, integrating e-learning tools in large-class settings for improved engagement and contextual learning. Julian is also associated with the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, where he has developed specialized courses. Moreover, he serves as Visiting Faculty at the London School of Economics and has actively participated in initiatives related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
