Dr. Julian Yates

Biography

Professor Julian Yates is a distinguished expert in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery based at the University of Manchester, where he also serves as an Honorary Consultant at Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated with an Honours degree in Anatomy and Human Biology from the University of Glasgow and received his PhD from the University of Sheffield. His research is focused on the aetiology of neuropathic pain and methods to enhance axonal regeneration in the trigeminal system. Professor Yates has spearheaded significant translational research leading to improvements in the clinical management of patients with facial deformities and conditions related to nerve injury. He has established patented protocols for the automated design and manufacture of hard and soft tissue prostheses. In addition to his research, he is heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the University of Manchester and has introduced innovative courses in Oral Surgery. He has published extensively in recognized scientific journals and presented his research internationally. Professor Yates has been instrumental in developing interdisciplinary training opportunities and supervising multiple PhD and master's students. He continues to collaborate with various neuroscience groups and industry partners to advance the field of oral surgery and maxillofacial implantology.
