Biography

Julian E. Zelizer is a New York best-selling author and a pioneer in the revival of American political history. He holds the position of Malcolm Stevenson Forbes, Class of 1941 Professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton University. Zelizer is also a CNN Political Analyst and a regular guest on NPR’s “Here and Now.” He is an award-winning author and editor of 25 books, including 'The Fierce Urgency of Now: Lyndon Johnson, Congress, and the Battle for the Great Society', which won the D.B. Hardeman Prize. His book 'Fault Lines: A History of the United States Since 1974' was named an Editor’s Choice by The New York Times and listed among 100 Notable Books of 2020. Other notable works include 'Abraham Joshua Heschel: Life and Radical Amazement' and 'The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: A Historical Assessment'. He is currently co-editing a book on election security and national security, titled 'Keeping the Republic'. Over his career, Zelizer has published more than 1200 op-eds and has received prestigious fellowships from the Brookings Institution, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, the New York Historical Society, and New America.
