Biography

Juliana Barr is a Professor Emerita of Anesthesiology and a Staff Anesthesiologist Intensivist at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California and an MD from Johns Hopkins University. She has been influential in critical care quality improvement research and was involved in establishing key clinical practice guidelines for managing pain, agitation, and delirium in ICU settings. Dr. Barr co-founded the intensivist-led ICU team at the Palo Alto VA in 1993 and has served in various leadership roles, including Director of the Critical Care Medical Student Core Clerkship at Stanford. She is recognized nationally for her contributions to improving patient care in critical care settings.
