Biography

Julie lectures digital journalism and sport journalism at Monash University’s School of Media, Film and Journalism. She has worked as a journalist since 1990, enjoying a career with News Corp for more than 20 years. Julie was formerly the Homepage Editor of the Herald Sun, as well as the Night Digital Editor and Sports Digital Editor. She was part of the Herald Sun Online team that won a Walkley Award for Outstanding Continuous Coverage for the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. In 2004, she reported on the Athens Olympics and received the ASCTA print media award for swimming. Julie has also won the Commonwealth Sports Award for her contributions to sports journalism in 2003. As a qualified educator, she has been teaching journalism since 2006 and has spent seven years training journalists at News Corp. Currently, she is the Professional Placement Coordinator and Internship Coordinator within the School of Media, Film and Journalism. Her expertise is related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education.
