Biography

Julie Bernard is an Adjunct Professor at Ivey Business School, where her research interests lie in responsible investment and shareholder activism, particularly integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into proxy voting and strategies for combating climate change. She joined the Sustainable Finance Lab in September 2022 as a postdoctoral scholar. Her research focuses on understanding and facilitating the replication and scaling of highly innovative Canadian financial products designed to leverage finance for nature-based carbon mitigation. Julie holds a Ph.D. from Université Laval, which she earned in 2022. Outside of her academic pursuits, she enjoys spending time outdoors engaging in activities such as trail running, hiking, canoeing, and cross-country Nordic skiing. Julie is actively involved with the Accounting Impact initiative and serves on several boards, including Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture and Thèsez-vous.
