Dr. Julie Champion

Biography

Julie Champion is the William R. McLain Endowed Term Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Following her doctoral studies, she served as an NIH postdoctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Champion is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and has received numerous awards, including the American Chemical Society Women Chemists Committee Rising Star Award, the NSF BRIGE Award, and the Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is also recognized as an Outstanding Advisor by the Georgia Tech BioEngineering Program. Her current research interests primarily focus on the design and self-assembly of functional nanomaterials made from engineered proteins, with applications in immunology and cancer biocatalysis.
