Dr. Julie Debeljak

Biography

Julie Debeljak is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at Monash University since 2013 and currently serves as Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She is the Deputy Director of the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law and previously held various academic positions including Senior Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer. Julie conducts research in international human rights law, comparative human rights law, constitutional law, and public law. She co-edited collections and has authored numerous book chapters and articles, particularly focusing on the domestic implementation of human rights obligations in Australia and global human trafficking issues. Julie was awarded Australian Research Council Linkage grants for various projects, contributing significantly to human rights capacity building in Australia and internationally. She is involved in legislative submissions and public inquiries, emphasizing the need for systemic accountability in human rights. Her publications reflect a commitment to advancing knowledge in human rights law and practice.
