Biography

Julie Gold is a Professor in Nano Biophysics at Chalmers University. Her research interests lie in understanding how cell microenvironments influence cell fate determination and the control of a cell’s microenvironment in vitro to produce cells and cell/material constructs for tissue engineering applications. She specializes in material surface modifications, microfluidic channels that provide gradients of cell-signaling molecules, and micro- and nanofabrication techniques for patterning materials with cells, aiming to explore a diverse range of cell types in specific application areas of study. Typical projects in her lab investigate cell attachment, spreading, migration, growth, and differentiation in both 2D and 3D environments. Julie has also served as the Chair of the Chalmers Faculty Appointment Committee from 2018 to 2024.
