Biography

Julie Loveny has over 30 years of experience as an educator, facilitator, mediator, and social worker specializing in mental health. As a lecturer, she provides real-life knowledge acquired from working in various government and community organizations, as well as the mining and business sectors. Julie founded Daring Life to enhance leadership and psychological safety in the workplace, offering consultancy services to support employee leadership capabilities. Her current projects include a government-funded initiative, 'Leading Thriving Workplaces,' partnering with health organizations in the not-for-profit sector while also collaborating with the Future Work Institute at Curtin Business School. Julie's research explores the mental health impact of fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) work arrangements. She contributed to the development of the Workplace Mental Health Standards for the Ministerial Council on Suicide Prevention, and has conducted evaluations for community mental health organizations. Furthermore, Julie is a certified facilitator of Dr. Brené Brown’s programs and has integrated these teachings into her courses at the University of Western Australia. In 2017, she took on a part-time role directing Field Education and has since re-developed units to incorporate innovative teaching methods.
