Dr. Julie Murray

Biography

Julie Murray is an Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Carleton University. Her research focuses on eighteenth-century and nineteenth-century British literature and culture, with particular interests in feminism, literary theory, and cultural theory. She has published extensively on Mary Wollstonecraft and her forthcoming book, 'Mary Wollstonecraft Modernity,' aims to explore the intersections of Western feminism and global modernity over centuries. Murray co-organized the 25th meeting of the North American Society for the Study of Romanticism (NASSR) in 2017 and has contributed to various academic publications, including conference volumes and edited collections. She has been recognized with several SSHRC grants and awards, underscoring her commitment to mentoring graduate students and engaging with critical issues in literature and humanitarianism.
