Biography

Julie Oyler is a Professor and Associate Program Director at the University of Chicago Internal Medicine Residency Program. She completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago. Oyler has been instrumental in developing the University of Chicago Medicine’s Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Curriculum, which has successfully been utilized to teach 500 Internal Medicine residents. She currently serves as the co-director of the HealthCare Delivery Improvement Science Track at the Pritzker School of Medicine, where she teaches nationally on quality improvement and patient safety. Notably, she has been active in the AAMC Teach Quality program and the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Quality Safety Educator Academy. As a primary care provider, Oyler practices medicine on the south side of Chicago. She has also chaired the University of Chicago, Department of Medicine Women’s Committee from 2017 to 2024 and has led initiatives to increase recognition and awards for female faculty members in academia.
