Biography

Julie Sanders is a cardiovascular nurse specializing in cardiac surgery care. Her experience spans various methodologies including genetics, large datasets, systematic reviews, observational studies, risk prediction models, and patient-reported outcome measurements in clinical trials. Julie holds several national and international roles, including as an ambassador for the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, co-founder of the Cardiac Surgery International Nursing and Allied Professional Research Network (CONNECT), and current Chair of the Science Committee for the European Society of Cardiology's Association for Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (ACNAP) from 2020 to 2024, as well as President-Elect for 2024-2026. Her research interests include cardiac surgery outcomes, especially focusing on frailty, morbidity, health-related quality of life, and the underrepresentation of women in cardiovascular trials.
