Dr. Julie Sochalski

Biography

Julie Sochalski is an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and has served as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in health workforce policy, focusing on interventions and evidence-based initiatives that enhance the U.S. health care system. Dr. Sochalski has directed substantial health workforce funding initiatives, including overseeing a multi-million dollar budget for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her research emphasizes elucidating workforce inputs necessary for high-quality, team-based primary care and informing policy initiatives that advance health care workforce development. She has collaborated with federal agencies during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and has extensive experience developing legislation that supports advanced practice nursing. Dr. Sochalski holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan and has participated in elite health policy training programs, influencing numerous health policy reforms through her work and mentorship. Her published research appears in respected journals, addressing critical aspects of nursing workforce trends and strategies for effective healthcare delivery.
