Julie Teichroeb received her Ph.D. in primatology from the University of Calgary in 2009 and has held postdoctoral positions at McGill University, University of California Santa Cruz, and Duke University. Her research primarily examines evolution and sociality from a perspective of the constraints individuals face in their subsequent decision-making. She is particularly interested in the relative influence of social and ecological pressures on social organization. Currently, her fieldwork is focused on Lake Nabugabo, Uganda, where she studies primate species including vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) and Angolan colobus (Colobus angolensis ruwenzorii). Teichroeb's current research topics involving vervets include understanding the costs of consensus during group movements, decision-making, and social foraging through field experiments. Additionally, her work on colobus aims to determine the dynamic patterns of sociality that have evolved in these primates. Her teaching interests include Primate Behaviour, Primate Sociality, and Primate Conservation.
