Biography

Julie Turgeon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Université Laval. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Université Laval in 1989, followed by a Master of Science in Zoology from the University of Guelph in 1993. After earning her Ph.D. in Biology from Université Laval in 2000, she pursued postdoctoral studies at Dartmouth College from 2000 to 2002. Julie has significant professional experience as a biologist with Roche Ltée and the Canadian International Development Agency from 1993 to 1996. Her research interests include Biogeography, Phylogeography, Evolutionary Biology, Population Genetics, Ecogenetics, and Speciation. Julie has received several awards for her teaching excellence, including the Teaching Star Award from the Faculty of Science and Engineering in 2010, 2014, 2020, and 2025. She is actively engaged in academia, mentoring graduate students and contributing to research in her field.
