Biography

Julie Wimmer teaches experiential education courses at Texas Law, focusing on areas such as Advanced Legal Writing and Immigration Clinic. She maintains a pro bono immigration practice and offers continuing legal education courses in writing advocacy. Wimmer is certified in effective instructional practices through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and has been recognized as Professor of the Year for 2023-2024. Before joining the faculty full-time, she practiced immigration law and served as an advisor on the intersection of immigration and criminal law in Texas. Her legal career began as a Skadden Fellow, followed by clerking for Judge George P. Kazen in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In addition to her legal experience, Wimmer was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay while attending law school.
