Biography

Julien Doyon, PhD, is the Director of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre and has held various leadership roles related to neuroimaging. He served as the Scientific Director of the Functional Neuroimaging Unit at the Research Centre, Institute of Geriatric Medicine in Montreal, and is the Director of the Quebec Bio-Imaging Network. Additionally, he co-directs the International Laboratory of Neuroimaging and Modeling at INSERM-University of Montreal. Julien obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology from Université Laval and completed his PhD in Psychology at McGill University in 1988, supervised by Brenda Milner. His research laboratory employs a combination of imaging techniques to study healthy elderly subjects and neurological populations, focusing on the neural networks changes associated with the acquisition of motor skills and the role of sleep in the consolidation and reconsolidation of these abilities. His research interests also extend to the identification of biomarkers useful for the early diagnosis and assessment of interventions designed to assist patients with Parkinson's disease. Julien has received numerous awards for his contributions to cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging, including the Richard C. Tess Award from the Canadian Society for Brain Behavior & Cognitive Sciences in 2011, becoming a Fellow of the society in 2017, and receiving the ACFAS Léo Pariseau Prize in 2012 for his work's excellence and international impact. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in September 2017.
