Julien Perret completed his Ph.D. in Geosciences in 2021 at the University of Lorraine in Nancy, France. He has worked at Arethuse, a geology and mineral exploration company in Aix-en-Provence, France. His research focuses on integrating gold ore deposits within a tectono-metamorphic context using a multi-scale and multi-method mineral system approach. He has conducted collaborative projects with academic and industrial partners, engaging in field observations such as mapping and core logging in the Neoproterozoic Nubian shield, which are complemented by lab analyses including micro-petrographical-structural study and whole-rock situ mineral geochemistry. His work contributes to understanding the relationships of various geological phenomena relating to the Gondwana supercontinent cycle, gold crustal fertility, and the structural control of mineralisation and ore-forming processes at a micrometric scale. Since March 2023, he has been a research assistant at the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia, participating in the West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI4) which aims to enhance similar multi-scale, multi-method approaches in research. His research expertise includes economic geology, ore genesis, exploration, structural geology, geodynamics, and Precambrian geology.
