Dr. Juliet Richters

Biography

Professor Juliet Richters is an Honorary Professor at the Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales, with over 30 years of experience in sexual health research and education. Her research focuses on the sociological aspects of sexual practices and social interactions within various contexts. Professor Richters has conducted extensive research including representative-sample surveys and qualitative studies pertaining to sexual health, particularly around HIV prevention, sexually transmissible infections (STIs), contraception, and reproductive decision-making. She has led significant studies such as the Australian Study of Health and Relationships, which involved a large national sample of 20,000 Australians aged 16 to 69, examining their sexual health attitudes and behaviors. Her collaborations span various studies including the Sydney Women and Sexual Health study and research initiatives with the Australian Red Cross. She has also supervised numerous PhD candidates on topics related to sexual behavior and health, and is actively involved in professional organizations related to sex research and sociology.
