Biography

Julietta Steinhauer joined UCL in September 2014 as an Associate Professor of Hellenistic History. Her research focuses on religion, religious minorities, and migration in the Aegean during the Hellenistic period. She is currently involved in a project titled 'Localism and Religion in Ancient Greece' at the University of Münster, which examines the interaction between local beliefs and migration patterns. Steinhauer welcomes research proposals from prospective students on topics including Greek religion, migration, gender, and equality during the Hellenistic period. Her major publications include works on the socio-religious networks of foreign women in Hellenistic Delos and the role of Dionysian associations. She has also made media appearances, including interviews for a BBC program on the Eleusinian Mysteries and ITV News regarding the Elgin Marbles. In addition to her research, she teaches various undergraduate and MA courses on ancient history and religion.
