Dr. Julio Infante Sedano

Biography

Professor Infante Sedano studied at the University of Ottawa, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science, Master of Applied Science, and Ph.D. He worked at Urkkada Technology Ltd., where he participated in the design of pile foundations for building and highway projects across Canada and the United States. His duties included monitoring ground improvement methods and field instrumentation. From 2006 to 2009, he taught part-time at the University of Ottawa before joining the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor in January 2010. His research focuses on sustainable development, particularly the use of unsaturated soils and geothermal energy, as well as optimizing the use of resources in construction and geotechnical structures. His research interests specifically include unsaturated soils and heat exchanger piles.
