Professor Dr. Julio Ramirez

Biography

Julio Ramirez is the Karl H. Kettelhut Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University, where he is also the Director of the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Network Coordination Office (NCO) Center. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has expertise in structural engineering with a focus on seismic performance of concrete buildings and infrastructure. His research interests include structural analysis and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, as well as experimental methods and design codes pertinent to structural concrete. Over the years, he has led and collaborated on multiple significant research projects funded by agencies like the National Science Foundation and NASA, focusing on topics such as hazard mitigation and resilient structures. Ramirez is a recognized leader in his field, having received multiple awards, including being elected a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
