Biography

Julius Chapiro is a board-certified Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, as well as in Digestive Diseases and Biomedical Engineering at Yale School of Medicine. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Yale Interventional Oncology Research Laboratory and the Director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Therapies. After graduating from the University of Leipzig and completing his research thesis at Justus Liebig University Giessen, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital and trained in radiology at Charité University Hospital Berlin. His research centers on the development of new quantitative imaging biomarkers for the diagnosis, characterization, and therapeutic management of liver cancer. His translational research portfolio includes the creation of novel embolic agents and the application of artificial intelligence solutions in liver cancer management. Over the past decade, he has authored and co-authored more than 170 original research articles and made significant contributions to academic discourse through over 150 invited talks. He is actively involved in mentoring students and peers, as well as serving on editorial boards for premier journals. Chapiro is also heavily engaged in the American College of Radiology, particularly in efforts surrounding the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System.
