Biography

Jun Liu is a Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo and a Canada Research Chair in Hybrid Systems Control. He directs the Hybrid Systems Lab, where his main research interests lie in the theory and applications of hybrid systems control, as well as rigorous computational methods for control design. His research covers optimization, learning theory, robotics, and data science, particularly in the context of cyber-physical systems and artificial intelligence. Professor Liu has co-authored two books: 'Formal Methods Control Nonlinear Systems' published by CRC Press, and 'Model-Based Reinforcement Learning: Data Continuous Actions Python-based Toolbox' released by Wiley-IEEE Press. He also serves as an associate editor for the IFAC journal Automatica and Systems & Control Letters. Through his work, he aims to advance the understanding and application of control techniques in complex systems.
