Biography

Jun Tao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and the Department of Medicine at Brown University, specializing in infectious diseases epidemiology. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Preventive Medicine from Tianjin Medical University, followed by a Master's degree in Immunology from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and a PhD in Epidemiology from Vanderbilt University. His research interests include HIV prevention, PrEP implementation, and the HIV care continuum, leveraging big data analytics and agent-based modeling to evaluate scalable strategies that address health disparities. Dr. Tao's work focuses on the development and testing of AI-based digital health interventions aimed at enhancing engagement in prevention and care strategies for chronic diseases and public health challenges. His current research includes funded projects investigating peer-driven interventions for promoting PrEP uptake among African American and Hispanic/Latino men who have sex with men, as well as utilizing big data approaches to characterize disparities in HIV care continuum in rural communities.
