Biography

Jun Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at the Moody College of Communication and in the Department of Neurology at the Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin. He earned his PhD in Computer Science with cross-training in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2011. Wang's research interests primarily focus on assistive speech technologies, neurogenic motor speech disorders, and speech brain-computer interfaces. Prior to his academic appointments, he worked as a software engineer at IBM China Software Development Lab in Beijing before returning to graduate school to pursue his doctoral degree. He completed postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center before becoming a Research Scientist at the Callier Center for Communication Disorders at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Communication Sciences and Disorders at UT Dallas in 2014, where he held an adjunct appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and was affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center.
