Biography

Jun Xie is a Professor and the Graduate Chair in the Department of Statistics at Purdue University. His areas of research include Bayesian Bioinformatics, Computational Methods, and Statistical Inference, with specific interests in Genomics, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Massive Data, Proteomics, and Survival Analysis. He has supervised numerous Ph.D. students at Purdue University and has been actively involved in research promoting the study of biologically related disciplines such as genomics and nutrition. Dr. Xie completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Probability Statistics at Peking University and earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000. He has received several awards for his contributions to science and education, including the College of Science Outstanding Service Award in 2016 and the College of Science Team Award in 2014.
