Biography

Jun Yuan received a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine from Wuhan University, China, in June 2015 and a Master's Degree in Medicine (Surgery) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in June 2018. He began pursuing his doctorate in biomedical science at the University of Western Australia in August 2018. His PhD research investigated the role of bone-derived factors in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease (AD), leading to the groundbreaking discovery of a correlation between levels of the bone-derived protein named sclerostin and the abnormal deposition of amyloid-β in the brains of older adults with preclinical AD. He successfully completed his PhD viva voce in November 2022 and was awarded his doctorate degree in July 2023. Currently, Jun Yuan serves as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science and as an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia, specializing in the intricate connection between bone and brain health. His research focuses on uncovering bone-derived factors involved in neurodegenerative diseases and advancing novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to improve the understanding and treatment of complex aging-related disorders.
