Biography

Junwei Deng is a PhD candidate in Information Sciences at the University of Illinois. He has a Master’s degree in Information from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Computer Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research primarily focuses on data-centric AI, exploring concepts such as data attribution, trustworthy machine learning, and responsible AI, including concerns related to copyright in generative AI. Junwei actively develops AI toolkits and investigates methods and applications of modern AI models. He is also recognized for his academic excellence, having received honors like the Shanghai Outstanding College Graduate award in 2020 and the National Scholarship in 2018, the latter being the highest award provided by the Ministry of Education in the People's Republic of China. Currently, he is advised by Jiaqi Ma and is engaged in publishing various papers in notable conferences, contributing significantly to the field of AI.
