Biography

Dr. Junwen Chen received a PhD in Human Sciences from Waseda University, Japan in 2002. He was employed as a full-time academic at Waseda University and served as a Research Associate at Tokai Gakuin University, Japan. Initially, he held the position of Assistant Professor and later was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2010, he moved to Australia to take on a Lecturer position at Flinders University, where he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2015. In 2019, Dr. Chen joined the Australian National University as a Senior Lecturer. His research primarily focuses on anxiety disorders, specifically Social Anxiety Disorder, and the transdiagnostic processes of anxiety and depression. Dr. Chen investigates the determinants of social anxiety disorder, the impacts of interventions, and examines effects of intervention programs targeting anxiety and depression in both adults and children. He also conducts cross-cultural comparisons in symptoms and strategies related to emotion regulation. Additionally, Dr. Chen is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide, where he supervises research students.
