Biography

Jürgen Burger is a Professor of Precision Engineering at the School of Biomedical and Precision Engineering, University of Bern. He serves as the Director of Studies for the Master of Science in Precision Engineering. Professor Burger began his career with CSEM and Tegimenta AG, and was elected as a professor in Micro Medical Technology at Bern University of Applied Sciences in 1996. He co-founded the Master's Program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Bern in 2006. In 2008, he became the R&D Director of the Microsystems Division at Johnson & Johnson's Center for Smart Implants Instruments, where he worked on developing and launching complex medical products. He completed his habilitation at the University of Bern in 2008 and was appointed as a titular professor in 2014. His research interests include the development of innovative therapeutic methods and diagnostic systems for clinical use, with a special focus on intelligent implants and surgical instruments that integrate pharmaceutical products.
