Dr. Jürgen Ernstberger

Biography

Professor Jürgen Ernstberger specializes in financial accounting with research interests that include auditing, corporate social responsibility, and corporate governance. He examines the effects of financial reporting on business decisions and the current developments in auditing, emphasizing sustainability and corporate social responsibility reporting. Ernstberger studied business administration at the University of Regensburg and the Copenhagen Business School, obtaining his PhD in 2004. Following this, he acquired a postdoctoral teaching qualification (habilitation) in 2008 from the University of Regensburg. He held an interim professorship in accounting and auditing at the University of Göttingen during the 2008/2009 winter term, and from 2008 to 2014, he was the Chair of Accounting and Auditing at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. In 2014, he was appointed as a full professor of financial accounting at the TUM School of Management, with additional research and teaching positions at Aston Business School, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, and Karl Franzens University Graz.
