Biography

Jurgen Goossens is a full professor of constitutional law at Utrecht University and the head of the Institute of Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Law. His chair focuses on constitutional resilience in the context of digital transformations and the legal protection of government action. He is the leader of the interdisciplinary NWO-MVI CHAIN project, which explores blockchain technology in society, emphasizing transparency, trust, and legitimacy by design from 2020 to 2024. Prior to his current role, he served as an associate professor of Constitutional Administrative Law at Tilburg University in July 2022. His academic journey includes a period from 2016 to 2019 as an assistant professor of constitutional law at Erasmus University and a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University, where he received an FWO grant to investigate the role of citizens in constitutional amendment procedures. In 2016, he defended his dissertation on comparative law titled 'The Future of Administrative Justice: Judicial Review of Administrative Action from a Comparative Perspective' at Ghent University. Goossens also holds an LL.M. degree from Yale University.
