Dr. Justin Belcher

Biography

Dr. Justin Belcher is an Associate Professor of Medicine specializing in Nephrology at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at Williams College, graduating cum laude with a degree in History. He attended Drexel University College of Medicine for his medical degree, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Following this, he completed his internship, residency, and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University. He went on to pursue a research fellowship in nephrology at Yale, earning his PhD in Investigative Medicine in 2014. Dr. Belcher’s research primarily focuses on acute kidney injury in patients with cirrhosis, utilizing novel biomarkers to enhance diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making. He has clinical expertise in managing a variety of kidney-related conditions, particularly acute kidney injury, electrolyte imbalances, and chronic kidney disease. He is dedicated to education and actively engages with medical students, residents, and fellows through formal and informal teaching methods. Dr. Belcher is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Nephrology and the American Federation for Medical Research, and has received various national awards for his contributions to the field.
