Biography

Justin B. Biddle is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Philosophy Minor at the Jimmy Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests are interdisciplinary, drawing on fields including philosophy, science, technology, and medicine. His work focuses on the relationships between values in science and technology, along with the epistemic implications that social organization has on research. He is currently exploring the relationships between artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, having previously worked in areas such as biomedical research and agricultural biotechnology. Biddle received his M.A. and Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Notre Dame and was a Distinguished Fellow at the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study. Before joining Georgia Tech, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Bielefeld University in Germany. His primary teaching interests encompass philosophy of science and technology, AI ethics, and public policy, with a particular enjoyment for teaching in study abroad programs.
