Biography

Justin Coon is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and the Emmott Fellow at Oriel College. He teaches modules in communication theory and systems within the undergraduate Engineering Science program at Oxford. His research interests are primarily centered on information theory and digital/wireless communications. Professor Coon has published over 200 papers in prestigious IEEE and APS journals and conferences and is the named inventor on more than 40 patents. He has served as an editor for IEEE journals and has chaired significant IEEE conferences. As a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), he leads the Information Network Science Lab at Oxford, which focuses on a broad array of theories and technologies in information theory and communication system modeling. The lab has contributed to key papers in leading journals related to these topics, and Professor Coon is particularly interested in supervising graduate research students in areas such as classical digital and wireless communication, relativistic communication, and sensor networks, among others.
