Biography

Justin Dunnavant is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. His current research focuses on the relationship between ecology and enslavement in the Danish West Indies, particularly in the Virgin Islands. Alongside his archaeological research, he is a co-founder of the Society of Black Archaeologists and is a certified Scientific SCUBA Diver with the American Academy of Underwater Sciences. Dunnavant serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
